FROM THE CHAIRMAN’S DESK

Fill the mind with the highest thoughts, hear them day after day, and think them month after month. The ideal of man is to see God in everything. But if you cannot see him in everything, see him in one thing, in that thing which you like best, and them see Him in another. So on you can go.

If you have faith in the three hundred and thirty millions of your mythological gods, and in all the gods which foreigners have introduced in to your midst, and still have no faith in yourselves, there is no salvation for you. Have faith in yourselves and stand up on that faith.

The history of the world is the history of a few men who had faith in themselves. That faith calls out the divinity within. You can do anything. You fail only when you do not strive sufficiently to manifest infinite power. As soon as a man or a nation loses faith in himself or itself, death comes. Believe first in yourself, and then in God.

Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is any sin, this is the only sin to say that you are weak, or others are weak.

Purity, patience, and perseverance are the three essentials to success, and above all, love.

Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man. Real education is that which enables one to stand on one’s own legs. The education that you are receiving now in schools and colleges in only making you a race of dyspeptics. You are working like machines merely, and living a jelly-fish existence.

Even the greatest fool can accomplish a task if it be after his heart. But the intelligent man is he who can convert every work into one that suits his taste. No work is petty. Everything in this world is like a banyan-seed, which, though appearing tiny as a mustard-seed, has yet the gigantic banyan tree latent within it. He indeed is intelligent who notices this and succeeds in making all work truly great.

Until we give up the world manufactured by the ego, never can we enter the kingdom of heaven. None ever did, none ever will. To give up the world is to forget the ego, to know it not at all-living in the body, but not of it. This rascal ego must be obliterated. Bless men when they revile you. Think how much good they are doing you; they can only hurt themselves. Go where people hate you, let them thrash the ego out of you, and you will get nearer to the Lord. Learn to feel yourself in other bodies, to know that we are all one. Throw all other nonsense to the winds. Spit out your actions, good or bad, and never think of them again. What is done is done. Throw off superstition. Have no weakness even in the face of death.

He who is alone is happy. Do good to all, like everyone, but do not love anyone. It is bondage, and bondage brings only misery. Live alone in your mind – that is happiness. To have nobody to care for and never minding who cares for one is the way to be free. Do not blame any supernatural being, neither be hopeless and despondent, nor think we are in place from which we can never escape unless someone comes and lends us a helping hand.

Arise, ye mighty one, and be strong! Struggle on and on! Try to be pure and unselfish-that is the whole of religion.

Calm and silent and steady work and no newspaper humbug, no name-making, you must always remember. No great things were ever done without great labour. We are the son of Light and children of God. Glory unto the Lord, we will succeed. March on, The Lord is our General. Three things are necessary to make every man great, every nation great:

1) Conviction of the powers of goodness.

2) Absence of jealousy and suspicion.

3) Helping all who are trying to be and do good.

Every soul is a sun covered over with clouds of ignorance; the difference between soul and soul is due to the difference in density of these layers of clouds. No good thing can be done without obstruction. It is only those who persevere to the end that succeed. Do not be proud; do not insist upon anything dogmatic; do not go against anything-ours is to put the chemicals together, the Lore knows how and when the crystal will form.

The life is short, the vanities of the world are transient, but they alone live who lives for others, the rest are more dead than alive. Do not go for glass beads leaving the mine of diamonds! This life is a great chance… Seek for the highest, aim at the highest and you shall reach the highest. Life is short! Give it up to great cause. Work hard. Be holy and pure, and the fire will come. Nothing will be able to resist truth and love and sincerity. Are you sincere? Unselfish even unto death? And loving? Then fear not, even death. Onward, my lads!

Have faith that you are all, my brave lands, born to do great thing! Let not the barks of puppies frighten you, no, not even the thunderbolts of heaven, but stand up and work! Do not lose heart, do not loss faith in your Guru, do not loss faith in God. So long as you possess these three, nothing can harm you. Infinite faith and strength are the only conditions of success.

Cultivate the virtue of obedience, but you must no sacrifice your own faith. No centralization is possible unless there is obedience to superiors. Not great work can be done without this centralization of individual forces.

Be never satisfied with a little. You are all-perfect, and until you realize your infinite nature, you must not stop. Do not think that you are intellectually limited. You have the brain of Socrates, the intelligence of Newton. Only you have allowed a lot of dust and dirt to over. Wipe away the dust, arouse your ambition and stir up your activity and known that all power is latent in you. You are not limited. No, you are as much limitless as any of the greatest sages of yore between whom and God, space and time never intervened.

Now, this one thing we all definitely want in life: success. Whatever may be our undertaking-in the direction of worldly prosperity or spiritual illumination, in spheres secular or spiritual- not one of use likes to fail. We all want to succeed. Success though we all desire, will be noticed in various spheres of life, truly successful men are only a handful. Many are those who attain only a moderate degree of success. And many more just fail.

Given the will-power, man makes every-thing out of nothing as it were. In the absence of the will-power, all his talents and qualities and endowments come to nothing.
